Overview

Gerkies is a cinematography and media production business on the Western Downs that was already producing corporate and government work while being seen as a local events option. In an ongoing partnership of more than five years, Zelexis refined its identity and messaging and built a website that shows that work clearly.

The challenge

The standard was there. The presentation had to show it.

The starting point

Gerkies already had the production quality and experience to serve established organisations. It was still often seen as a local option for short-notice jobs.

The aim was a clearer place in corporate, government and commercial work: projects with a considered brief, a planned production and a shared understanding of what the work needed to achieve. The identity people already knew had to be kept.

The earlier conversation
Availability for a local, short-notice job.
The intended conversation
A planned brief, clear scope and considered production.

Gerkies already produced work to a corporate standard. The website needed to show that standard before a prospect made contact.

One name, two meanings

The G mark already belonged to two stories.

Gerkies Storm Chasing shares the name and mark. Many people knew the weather content first. The commercial offer needed its own clear expression.

Insight

Keep the shared recognition. Name the commercial service.

The thinking

Give prospects something they can assess.

Trust begins with understanding the offer and seeing the standard. The identity, the portfolio and the language all needed to support the same conversation.

01

Build on existing recognition.

Keep the recognisable mark. Give the lettering more presence and add a descriptor naming cinematography and media production. Clarify the offer without replacing the identity for its own sake.

The recognition is kept, and the services are clearer.

02

Let the production set the standard.

A prominent showreel and selected work let visitors see the style and quality before enquiring. Relevant examples show the kinds of organisations and briefs Gerkies supports.

Evidence beside the proposition.

The Gerkies process: listening, planning and delivery
03

Explain what working together involves.

The process content makes listening, planning and working around the client's environment visible. A prospect can picture a prepared production partner and a useful first conversation.

Reassurance about the work and the relationship.

Refined, and still recognisable

The mark people knew. The service they needed to see.

The logo was refined. The familiar G stays, the lettering gains weight and a descriptor names the service.

A change in emphasis

From a creative claim to the work itself.

The earlier opening led with a slogan. The current one names the service, shows finished production and puts the showreel one click away.

Insight

Same production quality. A clearer first impression.

The expression

A recognisable identity. Work first.

The current website brings the refined identity, the production work and the approach together. A consistent commercial expression also separates this offer from the storm-chasing presence.

3.1A commercial palette

One accent, carried with restraint.

Aqua marks the commercial production offer. Charcoal and deep teal give the work a cinematic frame, and white leaves room for it.

Insight

The aqua accent and descriptor give commercial production a clear distinction from storm chasing, while the G mark keeps the connection.

3.2The first impression

Name the offer. Then let the work speak.

The homepage opens on finished production, a plain statement of the service and a direct route to the showreel.

The service, named in the lockup.

The refined logo carries its descriptor into the navigation, so the offer is clear before a word of copy is read.

Insight

Clarity before the visitor has to ask.

3.3The showreel

Let the work answer the quality question.

A minute of finished production does more than any claim about quality. It leads the website.

3.4The portfolio

Work a prospect can assess before enquiring.

Selected projects put corporate, industrial and event work side by side, each with the client's own context.
